The Town is in need of a resident to serve as the Town Historian.  Do you have an interest in the Town's history and people?  This may be the position for you!

Our current Historian, Linda Schmidt and her deputy (husband) Don Schmidt are stepping down at the end of this year.  The Town is in need of someone to fill this position.

Some of the responsibilites of the historian include research and writing of articles intended for the general public that present an interpretation of the history our community.  This may include preparing presentations for fairs, historical gatherings, etc.  Preservation of historical records, documents and artifacts also falls to the historian.  Research of family records is a common request for the historian.

There is a small stipend for this position in the Town's budget.  The Town also pays for or reimburses for membership dues, training and mileage.

If you think you may be interested or have questions about this position, please feel free to contact the Town Hall at 585-343-1399 or email the Town Clerk at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or the Supervisor at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I am always happy to help with historical and/or genealogy research!  Please feel free to email or call for help in locating information.

Be sure to check the calendar for open houses at the Old Town Hall during the summer!  Come in to see our collection of Bethany artifacts.
